Diana Reaich

Diana Reaich is Associate Deputy Director-General for Trade and International Relations at New Zealand’s Ministry for Primary Industries. She provides senior leadership across MPI’s market access and trade policy system, helping position New Zealand’s primary sector to navigate an increasingly complex and uncertain global trade environment. Her role is centred on setting strategic direction, building trusted relationships, influencing across government and industry, and ensuring New Zealand’s trade interests are advanced with clarity, confidence, and credibility.

Diana brings extensive experience in diplomacy, trade negotiations, international law, and public sector leadership. Before joining MPI, she served as New Zealand’s Ambassador to Belgium and Deputy Head of Mission to the European Union and NATO, where she led a diplomatic team through a significant period in New Zealand’s relationship with Europe, including the conclusion and ratification of the New Zealand-European Union Free Trade Agreement, New Zealand’s association to Horizon Europe, and the signing of the New Zealand-EU Europol Agreement.

She has also held senior roles at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, including leading people capability and, prior to that, leading the team responsible for negotiating services, and investment during the conclusion of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership. Across her career, Diana has focused on bringing people and systems together around shared priorities, building trust in complex environments, and creating the conditions for New Zealand to operate effectively and confidently in international markets.
